Heritage Swine

We offer live piglets from unique bloodlines with strong genetics.

Currently we have heritage mix pigs available.

Our pigs are raised outdoors on pasture with access to fresh forage. They are rotated regularly and given an herbal supplement to prevent parasites.

If you're looking for feeder pigs with good grazing instincts or for brood stock that can farrow outdoors with minimal shelter all year, please consider our stock.

Below is a description of our current breeding hogs:

Heritage Mix Hogs

Our aim is to develop strong grazing instincts, a diverse pallet, medium fattiness, medium size, friendly personalities and ability to farrow outdoors in the winter.

We started with two different mix breed sows and a mix breed boar. All three of them good grazers with good breeding characteristics. We saved two of the best gilts from each of the sows and selected a new boar to pair them with in order to further adapt the genetics.

Norman:
Breeding boar
Berkshire, Mangalitsa and Old Spot
Good length, back and belly lines
Very friendly and energetic

Maxine:
Breeding sow
50/50 Large Black Hog x Mangalitsa.
Great structure, good grazer, doesn't root.
Looks like LBH but with the hair of a mangalitsa

Thing One and Thing Two:
Breeding gilts
50/50 Norman x Maxine
Excellent grazers, diverse pallets, very friendly, great structure, non rooting

Nancy:
Breeding sow.
Berkshire, Yorkshire and Hampshire
Exceptional muscle distinction, fast growth, great mother, low carcass weight

Norma:
Breeding gilt
50/50 Norman x Nancy
Energetic, colorful,  fast grower, shows characteristics of all her breeds
Nancita:
Breeding gilt
50/50 Norman x Nancy
Mom's mini me, great muscle distinction, friendly, short snout, chill

These four gilts are bred with Georgie.
We anticipate feeders from these four gilts available May 2024

Georgie:
Breeding boar
50/50 Berkshire x Red Wattle
Excellent muscle conformation, chill and friendly, easy on the field and fence, double wattles

2023 Experimental Pairing

We bred a Mulefoot gilt with our Kune boar which produced a medium sized friendly boar with wattles that is unrelated to our other sows . "Maurice" is currently breeding with one of Nacita's gilts. We anticipate this yielding piglets that will graze well, have exceptional fat marbling and reach full size in less than a year.
Betty:
Breeding gilt
Pure bred Mulefoot
Sweet, calm and friendly, good shoulders, rare white tipped feet
Gus:
Breeding boar
Pure bred Kunkune
Great muscle conformation, long body, double wattles, gentle father, chill and non aggressive

Maurice:
Breeding boar
50/50 Mulefoot x Kunekune
Medium size, calm, thick body, tall, double wattles
